Jodie and Chris are gone
It has been announced that both Jodie Whittaker and Chris Chibnall are leaving Doctor Who. Their time on the show has been the most controversial of recent years. There will be a full series this year with 3 specials marking the end of their time on the show.

A correction
In my last blog I had said that ex BBC1 controller Danny Cohen gave one of the reasons he Rome cop show Zen was that they were too many white cops shows. What he did say was that were too many make detective shows. Though that has hardly changed.

The wrong colour
Just added to the BritBox streaming service is the Rome based cop show Zen. Starring Rufus Swell it ran for a single series in 2011. Then BBC1 controller Danny Cohen gave one reason for it's as they were too many white cops on TV. Nothing has changed Danny.

Dreams realised and dashed
With the postponed 2020 Olympics about to start, a couple of news stories have come out . The first is that Brisbane has been announced as the host of the 2032 games. The third time Australia has held the games. In other news British Shooter Amber Hill has pulled out due to a positive covid test. Bill was a bit medal hope.

TV ratings 18-07-2021
In a battle of crime dramas BBC1 Baptise which features award winning actress Fiona Shaw in the cast claimed 4.4 million viewers. Professor T starring Ben Miller on ITV was seen by 2.8 million viewers.

A monk returns
Next Monday ITV 4 will begin a repeat run of Cadfael. The show was based on the novels of Ellis Peters and starred Derek Jacobi in the title role of a crime solving monk. Unlikely care for a channel more known for tough guy fare like The Professionals.

29 million viewers saw England beaten by Italy on penalties in the final of the European Football Championship. The fifth biggest TV ratings of all time.

23 million viewers watched England beat Denmark in the semi finals of the European Football Championship on ITV. The final with Italy will be one of the most watched events in recent years.

What time are we on?
The TV schedules have been going through a fouled time, thanks to sports events currently going on. First the European Football Championship has displaced many programs from their usual spot. And now programmes are being dumped when high profile players like Andy Murray are playing at Wimbledon. Non sports viewers should be glad both events have a week to go.
