Not remembered in a good way

The death of Windsor Davies brings to mind that the TV show that was his biggest hit It Ain't Half Hot Mum is rather viewed in an not flattering light despite being written by the pairing of Jimmy Perry and David Croft whose other shows Dad's Army and Hi-de-Hi are more fondly. The following are 3 shows that ran for varying lengths that caused a bit of a stink.

The Black and White Minstrel Show

Running for 20 years between 1958 and 1978 and based around the idea of a group of performers doing musical show numbers. However the fact the Male performer black up their faces is what makes so weird. Axed even though it was still popular by BBC high ups who now were embarrassed that the corporation could be involved with such a programme.

Mini Pops

In it's first year of broadcasting Channel 4 aired a show aired at Children called Mini Pops. It had children performing pop hits while dressed as the actual pop stars. There were complaints that children should not be performing sexually provocative songs or manner. The show was axed after one series.

Heil Honey I'm Home!

In what must be the most tasteless sit-com in UK Adolf Hitler and Eva Braun find out their new neighbours are Jewish. Made by the fledgling British Satellite Broadcasting the pilot for the show was broadcast and then a full series (the part of Eva Braun was recast) was into production. However when BSB merged with Sky the series and the most bad taste idea UK TV has ever known came to an end.
