The future sucks in the UK

Next week on Sky 1 Curfew an new drama starts. Set in a future Britain where citizens not allowed out durning night time due to as yet disclosed reasons however some participate in a car race during the night. The cast is headed up by Sean Bean, Miranda Richardson and Billy Zane. Here are 3 other works with not too bright future for the UK.


28 Days Later

2002 Horror film directed by Danny Boyle. Cillan Murphy plays a man who wakes from a coma to find the streets populated by crazed  people. He later rans foul of a group of soldiers whose commanding officer is played by Christopher Eccleston.


Regin of Fire

Another 2002 film. In the future dragons have taken over the World with a British base. Christian Bale and Matthew McCounaghy play the humans leading the fight back. Includes a scene where the Star Wars trilogy is acted out for group of attentive kids.


V for Vendetta

Alan Moore and David Lloyd's seminal 1980s series that saw the saw the UK fall under the control of a far right wing regime. A figure who dresses himself as Guy Fawkes strikes terror at those in power. The basis for a 2006 film starring Natalie Portman, Hugo Weaving and John Hurt which led to Moore taking his name off and also any other screen versions of his work.
