A return to Jersey?
Paramount International Television has announced it is developing an number of projects. By far and away the most intriguing is a reboot of Bergerac. Starring John Nettles as Jersey police detective Jim Bergerac. The show ran on BBC1 between 1981 to 1991. The show featured many guest stars, to name 3 Michael Gambon, Jerome Fliynn and Pruenella Scales. We just have to wait to see if this new proposed version gets off the ground.

Radio up and downs
Greg James will be celebrating that over 2 hundred thousand new listeners have tuned into the BBC Radio 1 Breakfast since he took the DJ chair last year. However things were not quite as good as for the station as a whole as it dropped 3 hundred listeners to an overall total just over 9 million. Meanwhile BBC Radio 5 Live was overtaken LBC in the news station field.

Birds will fly no more
ITV has announced that it will not be making any more new episodes of the sit com Birds of a Feather, The show actually started on BBC1 running between 1989-98, It focused on 2 sisters (played by Pauline Quirke and Linda Robson) who find themselves having to deal with their some what provocative neighbour Dorian played by Lesley Joseph. ITV revived the show in 2014 and it proved to the station's biggest sit com in 2 decades. However the last episode was screened at Xmas 2017 and there had been much doubts the show would return and those fears were confirmed today.

Best of - Doctor Who the 7th Doctor
The 5 best stories of Sylvester McCoy brief but turbulent time in the role. At the end the show would be off air (barring 2 charity specials and the US TV movie) for 16 years.
1. Remembrance of the Daleks
The Doctor and Ace go to 1960s London where they find rival factions of Daleks fighting for a powerful weapon. During filming one exxplosin caused the police to come out thinking it was a terrorist bombing!
2. The Happiness Patrol
There is a planet where being unhappy can cost you your life. The Doctor matches wits with the planet's ruler Helen A and her fearsome henchman The Kandy Man. Sheila Hancock plays the Thatcher inspired Helen A.
3. Ghostlight
In a Victorian house no one seems to be who they are. The Doctor and Ace try to get to the bottom of the mystery. Ghostlight was the last story produced in the original run but not the last shown.
4. Survival
The last story to be shown. The Doctor and Ace investigate some disappearance only to cross paths with one of the Doctor. Rona Munro who wrote the story is the only writer to have worked on both incarnations of the show.
5. The Curse of Fenric
An ancient evil stirs off shore a WWII navel base. And it knows both The Doctor and Ace very well. Guest star Nicholas Parson puts game short host days behind him to play a doubt ridden Vicar.

Hawking your wares
In the last week a couple of adverts made by ITV has started airing on rival stations. Both feature characters from 2 the station's most popular shows. One has Roger Allam in his role in the Inspector Morse prequel Endeavour. The advert suggests that things will not go well for Fred in the upcoming series. The other is for the titular character Vera as played by Brenda Bleythen and it underlines why I have never seen an episode of that show. The droning voice and superior attitude only remain why I do not watch the show. So of the 2 adverts one works while the other is a complete failure.

Clive Swift (1936-2019)
The death has been announced of the actor Clive Swift. Best known as Richard the much put upon husband of Hynciath Bucket. Swift's career theatre career include spending 10 years with the Royal Shakespeare Company. His film work include 2 he made with 2 of the great titans of film making. He appeared in Alfred Hitchcock's London set serial killer thriller Frenzy. Clive appeared in what would be David Lean's final film A Passage to India. Another film Clive Swift appeared in the Arthurian epic Excalibur which saw him appear with such future big names as Liam Neeson, Helen Mirren, Patrick Stewart and Gabriel Byrne. Clive is one of an number of actors who appeared both the orgianal 1963-1989 and current runs of Doctor Who.. He guest starred in the 1985 story Revelation of the Daleks and then made another gust appearance in the 2007 Xmas special Voyage of the Damned.
