Cheryl makes a change
Cheryl (Cole) has made a made a switch from ITV to the BBC. The Geordie singer first gained fame through the ITV Pop Stars: The Rivals before becoming the judge on the same channel's The X Factor on an on off basis down the years. Her role as a dance judge on the pilot of The Greatest Dancer does mean she is straying far from her usual collaborates as it being produced by Simon Cowell's production company Syco.

Awful quiz show answer 14-2-2018
On Today's edition of Tipping Point a contestant was asked which musical star performed the no1 duet I Know Him So Well, the contestant gave the answer Faye Dunaway. Apart from an abortive (she did not get past rehearsals) stint on the musical version of Sunset Boulevard Dunaway has never been in a musical, Though the contestant did go to win the £10,000 jackpot.

TV ratings report 12-2-2018
Last night saw a clash of 2 dramas starring John Simm. Trauma on ITV was watched by 4.9 million viewers while BBC2's Collateral was watched by 3.2 million. While on the face of it ITV were the winners but the some what low debut suggests it could end up losing viewers for the rest of the week it is on.

Morse roads
in an upcoming episode of Endeavour will feature the future Inspector Morse checking into n a road side motel in the fictional town of Kings Oaks. This is a reference to Crossroads the somewhat derided soap opera. One of the main complaints being some what stodgy production values, one case being a piece of sound recording equipment dropping onto the studio floor though one of the actors picked and put it into a bag she was carrying. Crossroads came to an end after 24 years in 1988 a year after the first episode of Inspector Morse was broadcast. In 2001 there was a revival of Crossroads but that lasted only 2 years with the final scene being a character waking up from a dream that was basically the whole 2 years!

The centre is reopened
BBC Television Centre was reopened this week after 5 years of refurnishbments. The building is now mainly a residential area with apartments taking the place of what would have been offices. Though the building's past as a hub of programme making has not been forgotten as there 3 studios ready for the purpose.

Birth of a double 0
This May will see the publication of Anthony Horowitz's second James Bond novel. Like Trigger Mortis Forever and a Day will include unused Ian Fleming material. Whereas his first effort was set after the events of (the novel) Goldfinger, this new novel will act as a prequel to first Bond novel Casino Royale. The brief plot description has Bond taking up the mantle of 007 after his predecessor's murdered body is found floating in the waters off Marseilles. Forever and a Day comes out on the 31st of May

Newspaper consolidation part II
A few months after it was first reported the Trinity Mirror Group has bought all the various publications owned by Richard Desmond. Titles include the newspapers The Daily Express and The Daily Star and the magazine OK!. One of the intriguing ways in that the takeover will affect those titles is in political out view, The Daily Express is known as one of the most right wing in terms in viewpoint. However there was a brief period under pre Desmond owner Lord Horlick that it was quite sympathetic towards the Labour Party. As the whole newspaper industry is facing trouble what happens next will be of great interest.
