I am in charge now, you are axed
Here are 3 TV shows that were axed by incoming bosses
The House of Eliott
The brainchild of Eileen Atkins and Jean Marsh who also created Upstairs, Downstairs, it was the BBC's most expensive drama until the infamous Eldorado. Also notable for being the last drama series to be made at BBC TV Centre. The show was axed Alan Yentob who become controller of BBC1 who it was said to have a dislike for it. An number of cliffhangers were left unresolved as the Third and final season had made before the decision.
Throne
SKY1 made adaptions of 2 of Mark Billingham's books featuring Police detective Tom Thorne starring David Morrisey. They were well received so plans were made for a third book to make the transfer to the screen. However according to Billingham an new head of drama at SKY did want anything to do with they predecessor's project so Thorne was axed. Though fans of Billingham's books will be interested to know that BBC1 will be screening In the Dark based on another of his novels.
Gamesmaster
The show that remains the high water mark for computer and video gaming on UK TV is said to have fallen foul of a person feud. in 1997 Micheal Jackson was made controller of Channel 4 and axed Gamesmaster on the basis that were too many entertainment programmes on the channel. Others say the decision was more to do with a long running spat between Jackson and Gamesmaster producer Jane Hewland that dated back to the start of their careers at LWT.
