The third James Bond novel by Horowitz starts at the funeral of M. But this a deception. Anyone who knows me last Bond book Ian Fleming wrote, The Man With the Golden Gun at the start a brainwashed Bond is sent to kill his superior but the attempt fails. When information gets to the British Secret Service of a cabal of high ranking Soviet agents are planning a world shaking event an now deprogmed Bond is tasked with stopping it. With the exception of an action set piece on London's Tower Bridge this is a low key novel. The ending suggests an ending for the character though Horowitz in the afterword admits others taken the character further. All in all an interesting take on Bond
