Shouldn't you be retired?

Ever since Casualty started 31 years ago Derek Thompson has played the role of staff nurse Charlie Fairhead from the start. However when Derek's real life age is 70 which in real life would see Charlie retired by now. Though this not the worst offender as Brenda Bleythan in the role of Police Dectivie Vera Stanhope 73 while most Police officers are retired in their 50s!
