 British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced that the the next UK General Election will be held on the 4th of July. Sunak did the announcement no 10 Downing Street while a mass downpour of rain while The Tony Blair campaign theme Things Can Only Get Better was played over his speech.

One of these was James Crossley best known as Hunter in the original British version of Gladiators.  The death has been announced of novelist C. J. Sansom. Best known for the Shardlake novels in which a lawyer investigates crimes during the turbulent reign of Henry VIII. This was news comes just before a screen version of the novels are about 'll release on the Disney+ streaming service.

 In the day's edition of Pointless contestants were asked to give the second word of a book title with two words that began with the same letter. One contestant when shown the word Marathon, went for runner. The answer is of course Marathon Man by William Goldman which was later turned into a film starring Dustin Hoffman.

 Actress Brenda Blethyn has announced that she is no longer playing the titular role of Vera. The police drama has been going for 14 years.
